1960: Born in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Lived in Utrecht and Amsterdam.
1965: Emigrated to Australia with family.
1970: Came back to the Netherlands.
1978: Graduated high school (HAVO).
1983: Graduated library school (BDA Deventer), specialty: school libraries.
1984 – 1992: Librarian at the police training school De Boskamp in Leusden, the Netherlands.
1986: Started translating Dutch to English for various police institutes.
1991: Met T on vacation in Edinburgh, Scotland.
1992 – 1994: Librarian at the ROB (National Archeology Institute) in Amersfoort, the Netherlands.
1994: Immigrated to McAllen, TX and married T.
1994 – 1995: One of three librarians at the local children’s library.
1995 – 1996: High school librarian at a small school district in the Rio Grande Valley.
1997 – 2001: Studied English and American literature at UT Pan-Am in Edinburg, TX.
2000 – 2001: Taught remedial English courses as a TA at UT Pan-Am.
2001: Graduated with a Master’s degree in English from UT Pan-Am.
2003 – 2006: Volunteer librarian at my kids’ Montessori school in Edinburg, TX.
2006: Moved to Austin, TX.
2011: Started my blog, Resident Alien: Being Dutch in America.
2018: Started my second blog, The Big No-No: An Outsider on American Fascism.
